"Pretender" was written and recorded in a single day in Kamen's home studio in Tampa, Florida. The song is about the feeling of being disconnected from the world and longing for something more. Kamen's lyrics are introspective and vulnerable, exploring themes of mental health and anxiety. "Pretender" is a haunting and atmospheric track that reflects Kamen's mix of lo-fi indie and hip hop.
