What’s Included?
You or your recipient will receive the custom vinyl postcard(s) with your custom photo, note & recording. There’s also a web address / QR code that is printed on the back where they can access digital downloads of the photo & recording.
Approval Process / Shipping
After submitting your order, we will be in touch with final artwork via email. We will not begin production on your custom card until you’ve approved the design & audio. If no answer is given within 1 week of our email, we will begin production and mail out the card as soon as possible. Turn-around times varies depending on the amount ordered. Orders under 20 are usually finished under 1-2 weeks while large orders can take up to 3-8 weeks.
Small orders are inserted into plastic sleeves and mailed in envelopes with thick chipboard to prevent bending. Larger orders are shipped in larger boxes with bubble wrap. They’re shipped from Texas with tracking included. (From $1.99 and up depending on order size). Tracking information will be provided once the card is sent.
Can I create a vinyl postcard for any song?
Unfortunately, no. You must have permission or own the rights for us to make copies for you.
How are these made?
Our custom vinyl postcards are not made in the same way as traditional vinyl which is pressed using stampers. These are “embossed” on thin sheets of plastic and are made one at a time, in real time. (They’re 100% handmade.) Your recording is played through small speakers that are connected to a needle that embosses the sound on a plastic sheet as it’s spinning. The longer the audio, the longer it takes to emboss the record.
What are the art / audio requirements?
These are printed on A5 size postcards (148 x 210mm | 5.8 x 8.3 inch) with a 3mm bleed. Important aspects of the artwork like text should be 6mm away from the border so as to be sure it doesn’t get cut off. You can fit up to 4 minutes and 30 seconds of sound on each card. The front and back is completely customizable. The only requirement is that there’s a small credit for VinylPost.co somewhere on the back in a small 6 pt. font.
How do these sound?
These releases tend to be a bit quieter than normal records. Listen to our video examples to get an idea of how these sound.
Will these play on any turntable?
Each custom vinyl postcard is tested to ensure it works on a properly weighted record player. Inexpensive players (Crosley, ION, Victrola, AT-LP60 etc.) with red cartridges / needles in particular can tend to have a bit more trouble with these type of releases. Some turntables with auto-return features may try and return the arm before the audio is finished playing due to the size of these records.
What is the return policy?
We are unable to accept most returns on custom vinyl postcards due to the fact that there’s a high level of customization to each card. Listen to the audio examples to get an idea of the sound and ensure that you have a proper turntable set up for listening. (A player with proper counter-weight & anti-skate settings)
